The work contains numerous illustrations throughout, including a frontispiece of a French Window and multiple interior engravings depicting decorative arrangements and domestic interiors.
Historical & Social Context
Books such as Nooks and Corners provide a fascinating insight into Victorian domestic culture, particularly the ideals of order, comfort, and aesthetic harmony that shaped middle-class homes of the period.
Panton writes with authority and practicality, discussing rooms such as nurseries, libraries, halls, and boudoirs, while also addressing topics including christenings, weddings, household management, and family life. Today the work serves as an informative resource for collectors interested in Victorian interiors, domestic history, and social customs.
