Description & Significance
Weekday Walking-Sticks is a charming and thoughtful devotional work designed for daily Christian meditation. Originally prepared in 1925 as spiritual “insets” for parish magazines in the Diocese of Chichester, these reflections were later expanded and rearranged for publication in book form.
Canon G. E. Frewer’s metaphor of the “walking-stick” as spiritual support for the Christian journey gives the book both warmth and originality. It is a quietly powerful example of early 20th-century Anglican devotional writing, intended to guide readers through the weekday rhythms of faith, reflection, and perseverance.
This copy is especially desirable as it is signed by the author, with a warm presentation inscription:
“From the Writer with kindest regards”

Rarity & Collector Notes
Signed copies of Frewer’s devotional works are uncommon, particularly in such a clean, complete first edition state. While the title itself is not widely known today, its combination of:
• First edition, first impression
• Original cloth
• Author’s inscription
• Early 20th-century Anglican devotional context…makes it a desirable piece for collectors of religious history, Anglican theology, and signed devotional literature.
