This book is a wonderfully small book, now 265 years old as so quite historically important. THIS IS AN OVERALL NEAT AND CLEAN COPY OF THIS BOOK, AND IN A VERY GOOD CONDITION GIVEN ITS AGE.
“The Noble and Renowned History of Guy, Earl of Warwick” was first published in 1651. For many years he was the hero of our nursery tales.
This does not contain a Dust Jacket.
The cover is intact, robust, and in a very good state for a book which is 265 years old. There is just light wear, which includes light rubbing on the boards, bumping and splits on the corners, some rubbing at the edges, small dents and light scratches. Please see the photographs provided for further reference.
Inside, the pages are tanned, and for a book of this age, THE PAGES ARE IN AN OVERALL VERY NEAT AND CLEAN STATE, AND PREDOMINANTLY UNCREASED. There is only the very occasional small or light mark, very light or small crease. There are very small holes at the inner edge of the pages, which run through the text block. However, these are minimal and do not affect the text or the illustrations. In addition, a few pages have very small rips at their edges, which again do not affect the text or pictures. A few pages (pages 35 to 38) are partially loose to the bottom section of the inner binding, and so still attached within the book and secure. On the front pastedown there is a bookplate pasted for ‘Warwick Castle’, together with a crest of arms. There is also a small sticker pasted for ‘H. J. Cooke, Printer, Bookseller, Stationer & Binder, High Street, Warwick’. On the front free endpaper there is a bookplate pasted for ‘Warwick Castle Local Library’. Additionally, there is some pencil written on the front flyleaf and some pen written on the overleaf of this page. There may be what looks like remnants of pen on the title page. However, there is no further pen or pencil inside this book. The pages are mostly tightly bound, and there is just a light crack in the gutter to the side of the front flyleaf. This is minimal and all the pages are secure. There are NO MISSING PAGES, and all 144 PAGES are present.
PLEASE STUDY THE PHOTOS CAREFULLY AS TO THE CONDITION OF THIS BOOK, AS THEY DO FORM PART OF THE DESCRIPTION.
This is a small book and measures approximately 14.3 cm by 8.8 cm and 1.1 cm wide. It weighs approximately 96 grams.
