THIS HAS COME FROM THE LIBRARY OF THE ESTEEMED HISTORIAN, FREDERIC ARTHUR WADSWORTH AND IT IS WITH TWO OWNERSHIP BOOK PLATES: On the front pastedown is pasted an illustrated book plate for “Percy J & Alice G. Cropper”, and on the front free endpaper is a later armorial plate for F. Arthur Wadsworth. I have undertaken some research on the previous owners and found the following information for your perusal:  Percy James Cropper was a Nottingham Lace Manufacturer, born in 1857 in Derby. His wife, Alice, was born in Sneinton in Nottingham, in about 1867. Frederic (or Frederick) Arthur Wadsworth, born in 1871 in Nottingham, was a Solicitor, Historian and Antiquarian. He was appointed Registrar of the Archdeaconry of Nottingham in 1918. He was also a Thoroton Society Librarian and an avid book collector. Wadsworth held this position for 32 years, until his death in 1943.

THE COVER IS INTACT, ROBUST, AND IN A GOOD STATE FOR ITS AGE, BEING OVER 150 YEARS OLD. There is just a little wear to the cover, which includes rubbing to the corners and on the spine, a few small dents at the edges, very small rips at the top and bottom of the spine, and discolouration to the leather on the spine. Please see the photographs which I have provided for further details.

Internally, the pages are lightly tanned, which is consistent for a book of this age. There are darker patches of tanning and light foxing on the pastedowns and endpapers. However, THE PAGES ARE IN AN OVERALL VERY NEAT AND CLEAN STATE FOR THEIR AGE, AND UNCREASED. There is just light rubbing on the green pasted wrapper (which is prior to the preliminary advertisements) and the very occasional very small marks. Most of the pages are without rips, and there is just a small rip at the bottom corner of the first page of adverts (and overleaf), which does not affect the text. There is also a little pen and pencil written on this page (see photo of page entitled ‘Protection From Fire’). There are no further pen or pencil marks written inside this book. The main pages of text are all tightly bound and secure, but there are light cracks in the gutter between the pastedowns and the free endpapers. These are minimal and the pages are all secure. There are NO LOOSE OR MISSING PAGES, and so ALL 104 PAGES, PLUS THE ADVERTISEMENTS ARE PRESENT.

PLEASE STUDY THE PHOTOS CAREFULLY AS TO THE CONDITION OF THIS BOOK, AS THEY DO FORM PART OF THE DESCRIPTION.

THIS IS A SMALL BOOK and measures approximately 17 cm by 11.3 cm and 1.4 cm wide. It weighs approximately 186 grams.
