PUBLISHED IN 1854 BY LONGMAN, BROWN, GREEN, AND LONGMANS, London. It is a second edition, revised and was published in the same year as the first edition (1854). Printed by W. Clowes And Sons, Stamford Street And Charing Cross, London.

The author, Stephen Watson Fullom (c1818-1872) was an English novelist and journalist, recognised for his contributions to Victorian literature.

The illustrator, John Leech (1817–1864), was a celebrated British artist and caricaturist, renowned for his work in the Victorian era.  Leech contributed illustrations to popular magazines like Punch, where his work helped define the periodical's comedic and social commentary.  His art often highlighted social issues, class disparities, and the quirks of Victorian society.

This does not include a dust jacket.

The COVER IS INTACT, ROBUST, AND IN A GOOD CONDITION FOR ITS AGE, BEING OVER 170 YEARS OLD. There is some wear to the cover. This includes bumping and small rips to the corners, very small rips at the top and bottom of the spine, a small rip towards the top of the long edge of the spine, where it adjoins the front board, patches of rubbing, a couple of small dents at the edges, and some small or light marks. Please see the photographs which I have provided for further reference.

Inside, the PAGES BRIGHT FOR THEIR AGE, and are just very lightly tanned. As afore mentioned, there is foxing on the preliminary pages for each volume. BESIDES THIS, THE PAGES ARE OVERALL NEAT AND CLEAN. There are only the occasional small creases on the inner edges, and very occasional very light or small other creases, other very small marks on the remaining pages, and some marks at the page edges, which do not obscure the text. The pages are slightly roughly cut, but this is most likely to do with the construction method when this book was made and is all part of its beautiful history. The page leaves were probably uncut and then severed with a pen knife. There are the occasional rips at the page edges, mostly from being roughly cut, and a pinprick hole near the edge of a few pages. These do not affect the text. On the front free endpaper there are remnants of pencil. However, there are no further pen or pencil marks written inside this book. ALL THE PAGES ARE SECURE, although there are light cracks in the gutter between several pages and a few pages have come loose from one of the thread seams in the binding, and so still attached within the book. There are NO MISSING PAGES, and so all 302pp Volume 1, 307pp Volume 2, 295pp Volume 3, are present.

PLEASE STUDY THE PHOTOS CAREFULLY AS TO THE CONDITION OF THIS BOOK, AS THEY DO FORM PART OF THE DESCRIPTION.

This measures approximately 20.6 cm by 14 cm and 6.4 cm wide. It weighs approximately 1,146 grams.
