A beautifully produced book in half-bound red leather with marbled boards, featuring gilt panelled spine, all-edge marbled pages, and matching marbled endpapers. Includes the Memoir of Collins by W. Moy Thomas as well as a complete collection of his poetry.
William Collins (1721–1759) was an English poet celebrated for his introspective, lyrical verse and is regarded as a precursor to the Romantic movement. Despite his brief career, his works influenced Wordsworth, Coleridge, and later generations of poets.
Published by Bell and Daldy, York Street, Covent Garden, London, and printed at Chiswick Press by Whittingham and Wilkins, Tooks Court, Chancery Lane. Undated, but issued between 1856–1873, during the Bell and Daldy partnership.
Exterior Condition
- Half-bound red leather spine and corners, with marbled paper boards.
- Panelled gilt spine with gilt lettering and decoration.
- Cover intact, robust, and in good condition for 150+ years old.
- Light wear to corners, edges, and spine ends; minor rubbing.

Interior Condition
- Bright pages for age, very lightly tanned.
- Overall neat, clean, and largely uncreased.
- Contents page with light creasing; occasional very small marks on a few pages.
- No rips, no pen or pencil inscriptions.
- Some uneven page edges — consistent with the book’s original construction.
- Pages tightly bound; no loose or missing pages.
- All 102 pages of poetry + memoir complete and secure.
